„Giving Europe a Soul“

Giving Europe a Soul – this appeal of Jacques Delors is the motto of socioMovens, following which numerous social youth project weeks have been organised with young people in Central and Eastern Europe since 2013/14. Aiming to shape the future together by a commitment for a humane society young people are running this weeks together with their local church realities and volunteers. The weeks follow a specific social or ecological theme and are realised in cooperation with the foundation socioMovens. Giving Europe a Soul and Kommende Dortmund, the social institute of the Archdiocese of Paderborn. The international partner association socioMovens e.V. takes care of membership and supports the foundation.

On the project week the young participants make an intensive community experience. Motivated by experience-based education and informal learning they explore their respective project topics and discover that they can play a part in making our world a more fair, more peaceful and more solidly united place. Following this goal they stay connected in local engagement communities and exchange their experiences in the European network of socioMovens.

We are happy to provide you with information on the genesis, design and implementation of our project work. Furthermore, we provide insights into the associated idea of creating spaces for young people in which they can develop and strengthen their own personality and social awareness. With our work we aim to contribute to the vision of “Giving Europe a Soul”. Making it a concrete reality day by day!
