Basic idea
The international socioMovens movement is created in a sense of responsibility towards future generations and is prompted by the peace-building power of Catholic social teaching.
The movement supports young people who stand up for a Europe of solidarity and who work with heart and hand for the disadvantaged in their living environment – a service that is committed to the Christian image of humanity and the Church’s social proclamation.
Inspired by the idea of “giving Europe a soul” (Jacques Delors), the social-theoretical approach of Catholic social teaching shall be brought to new life in the vision of a society based on values, solidarity and the common good in view of the challenges of European integration.
The socioMovens movement aims to support young people, particularly in Eastern, Central and South-Eastern Europe, to foster their social commitment. It offers structures for community building and networking across regional and national borders and contributes to the realisation of joint socio-ethical projects, initiatives and programmes.
In a rapidly and profoundly changing society that exposed to both local and global developments, socioMovens is committed to interdenominational, interreligious and intercultural dialogue. socioMovens promotes all forces that are capable of exerting a formative influence on the intellectual currents of our time and bringing about a culture of respect and tolerance with an impact on civil society.
