Slovakia goes Europe
The Slovakian members of the socioMovens network have already organized youth social project weeks in three different places. The currently closest collaboration is established with Ružomberok, that is also set to host the next international youth meeting in 2026.
Examples for the content-related work include the focus on the local Roma community, a recuperation house and a elderly’s home. It was also important to live together as a community, which was given a special depth through prayer and reflection. There was a special mutual attentiveness and vigilance, which also served as an impulse for the pupils to take off the blinkers that everyday routine all too often imposes on us and to intensively perceive and help shape their own environment. The experiences the young people had together – in togetherness and in prayer – became signs of a more conscious lifestyle of mutual consideration, which they will also try to live in the future. “It’s important to me to experience the world through the eyes of others. That way I can reawaken my social awareness. The days have helped me with this!”
“Even with small things I can comfort others. That’s why I think a lot about people who need our love. I want to give them hope.”
“I will talk about this week and tell my family so that others can also learn to give love and the lives of others become better, so that in the end a big family is created, because that is the most beautiful thing in life!”
